Serving all Seattle neighborhoods - including the North End, West Seattle, and selected areas of the Eastside.

For both birth and postpartum work, I conduct interviews in the potential client's home.  I prefer to meet both parents, in circumstances that apply.  Interviews usually take about an hour.  We discuss my background, the potential clients anticipated or known needs, and business logistics.  I bring my contract to be reviewed and answer any questions.

Postpartum Doula Care

  • Successful interview - either during pregnancy or postpartum.
  • Planning meeting - either in person or via email.  Discussion of individual concerns and anticipated needs for postpartum; tentative and flexible plans made for doula care.  Signing of the postpartum contract; the hours are reserved and planned around any other clients I may have at the same time.
  • Postpartum doula support - whenever the family decides the need for care has begun.  Working four to eight hour shifts in the day or overnight, one to three days a week.  I give my clients weekly invoices and payment is accepted by check.

Birth Doula Care  (On Maternity Leave)

  • Successful interview
  • Pregnancy meeting - Exploration of the personal experience of pregnancy.  Can be conversational, artistic, literary, medical, or any other medium.  Includes signing the service contract and a non-refundable retainer payment.
  • Birth meeting - Preparation for the birth.  Can include the making of a written birth plan, a visualization of the birth, discussion of fears and hopes related to birth, and plans for postpartum.
  • THE BIRTH  Physical, emotional, and mental support throughout the labor and birth, with lactation support the first few hours following birth.
  • Postpartum meeting - Contemplation and celebration of the birth, as well as continued lactation support, including the final payment.
  • Birth Story - For clients who are interested, I offer to record and transcribe the birth story.
  • Placenta Encapsulation - For clients who are interested, I offer placenta encapsulation as part of the birth package.

I am also available by phone 24 hours a day to answer questions and concerns for my clients throughout pregnancy and postpartum.

Placenta Encapsulation

Based on principles of Chinese medicine, placenta encapsulation honors the energetic bond between mom, placenta and baby.  For more information please contact me directly.

Birth and Postpartum Consultation

If you are not a current client, but would like to discuss the specific concerns you have about your birth and/or your baby, we can work on a more short term basis together in the consultation capacity.  Topics include, but are not limited to: typical hospital interventions, coping strategies for mothers' partners, breastfeeding/baby feeding, healthy sleep patterns for the whole family, navigating the transition to parenthood, and processing the birth experience.  There are times when an interview may turn into a consultation session, and then the time will be billed.
